Kelly Chang is a Lead Scientist at GE Aerospace Research specializing in polymer matrix composites (PMCs). She leads a portfolio of R&D projects aimed at improving the durability of both commercial and military PMC aircraft engine components through material design, characterization, and process development. She is also heavily involved in the development and characterization of polymeric coatings for orbital applications.Kelly is a PhD alum of the Autonomous Materials Systems group at UIUC. She wrote her dissertation on autonomous materials for durability in low Earth orbit, and is thrilled to continue in this field of work at GE Aerospace Research. Kelly also holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and B.A. in Business from the University of Rochester.
